I am really in love with this updated version of Ancient Empires, I remember playing the original game on my Sony E. K800i cellphone, and while I do enjoy the new units etc. I do not like some of them, and I am sure other old school players would enjoy a feature which limits which units can be used on a map. It doesn't necessarily have to be that selective, just a feature which allows to pick classic units and all units.
Hopefully, this will be added in a patch. I've seen, after beating the original campaigns, the AI which works only with the basic units is already developed.
