I have no idea even what troops to buy. Usually whatever I buy ends up dying straight away. Any help please?

The troops you can select depends upon you but I would suggest to choose troops that I mentioned in my section and follow the advice given there and yes try to k/w goleon and dragon in starting turns and don't give yourselves to wolves straight away |

I could give you some of my combinations that could do the trick for you.
1.Dragon,Besserker,Spirit
2.Golem,Spirit x2,Paladin
3.Wolf-Archer,Dragon,Archer
4.Arch Mage,Paladina x 2,Golem
